"August 7, 2004" Champeno Follows Boyer to finish Second after working his way through the field
Todd Corson took command of the late model feature pulling away from the
rest of the field. A three-car crash on lap 6 for Mel Wilt, Todd Price
and Dusty Rhoads brought out the first of four yellow flags. All three cars suffered considerable
damage but after spending time in the pits and hard work by crewmembers, all would make
it back out and finish the race. Wade Champeno took the lead on the restart bringing Rick
Boyer with him. Contact between both drivers sent them spinning in turn 1, handing the lead
back to Corson. But that lead was short lived, as Corson would spin in front of the
field on lap 15, handing the lead to Jacob Coffin. Coffin led after the restart but
could not hold off the challenge by Boyer, who went to the lead on lap 18 and never looked
back winning his first feature of the season. Champeno came back to finish second followed by Coffin,
Corson and Wilt in the top five. Price won the heat race.
Rick Boyer First, Wade Champeno second,
